This book could not have come at a better time. I am having a horrible time parenting right now. My child just turned 3 and has been testing me like crazy. Unfortunately I have been failing in ways and am in need of some help. When I saw this book was a Christian parent's guide I was very excited to get my copy.

About the book (from Amazon):
Motivate Your Child Written by Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller RN, BSN

Most parenting approaches end up encouraging children to ask the wrong questions about life: What’s in it for me? Are you going to pay me for that? What’s the minimum I need to do to get by? But God’s Word gives us a better way to parent, one that builds strong internal motivation in children. When parents change the way they parent, kids change the way they live. This practical book explores a theology of internal motivation and then gives parents real-life solutions to equip their kids for life.

You’ll learn . . .
  • how to parent in ways that build internal motivation so that kids don’t have to rely on you to get things done.
  • the four promptings of the conscience and how to coordinate your parenting to take advantage of them.
  • ways to energize your spiritual training with fun and creativity.
  • how to help children respond to mistakes instead of blaming, defending, or justifying.

The greatest gift you can give your child is strong moral and spiritual development—this book shows you how. Every chapter includes practical examples of families applying the Bible to their current issues.

I really like that there are action points and little surveys I can take right in the book. When I read a book like this I want to be sure I use what I read and not just forget it. These tools in the book help me to achieve this. This book has given me the tools I need to change the way I parent. I will use the tools and make myself and my daughter better people. I really think this is a great read for any other parent who is struggling.

  1. There are some days........ Motivation is a huge thing we need to work on.........

  2. I need this book! My son is 3 and some days I feel like I need to be in an insane asylum. He can really be mischievous and it gets on my nerves. My oldest daughter was so calm as a child. Those were the good ole days lol. Thanks for sharing! :)
