Valenties Craft for the Uncrafty (like me)

I can't believe Valentine's Day is less than a month away! The first month of the year is going by so fast. Actually tomorrow is my birthday and I will be 30! That is a whole post of its own. Anyways I have a very creative and crafty child. She loves to draw and paint and play with play doh. I am not crafty or creative at all. The crafting supplies I have in our house consist of glue, construction paper, some pom poms, beads, pipe cleaners, and some sparkly things. These materials are pretty hidden in the house until lately. I have decided it is a good idea to let my daughter be more creative and I should participate too.

We decided to make some easy Valentine's Day hearts.

Materials needed:
Construction paper in red and/or pick
Glue (hot glue gun might work best but not fun to do with toddler)
Pom poms
Heart shape item to trace
Pencil to trace

We started out by folding out paper in half and tracing half of our heart at the fold. Then cut it out. We did this twice on one page so we could make the hearts a little thicker.

We glued both hearts from one page together and let them dry for a few minutes.

I then decorated the inside with some sticker letters and wrote love. You can put whatever you want inside and outside of it and then fold it back up and a make a small card.

I put pom poms on the outside and my daughter decided to do the whole inside of hers with them. She ended up adding more than what I got a picture of. We had some quality time together and it was fun. I just wanted to share this easy craft that even a non-crafter like myself can do.
What kinds of crafts do you do with your kids?

  1. How cute and how easy. I think Madison would enjoy making this especially since she likes gluing. I actually have all the supplies also since we just did a Michael's run a few days ago.
