Life with a now 3 year old (ups and down)

I can now say I have a 3 year old ahhhh! My daughter turned 3 this past Saturday. She has been a handful since she turned 2 and I can see it only getting worse. There are ups and downs just like everything else in life.

Christine is at the age of potty training and I am not ready for it. I have been having a hard time with it. She will go in the potty but then she gets lazy and will just wet herself for the heck of it. This is one of my downs right now. It is not fun to change underwear and pants 4 times or more a day (especially when they are not just wet. Ewww). We have thrown some underwear out. I know we will get through this and my little girl will be potty trained sooner than I think.

An upside right now is that she is so fun to play with and her imagination is running wild. I feel so old when we play because my imagination must be gone haha. She likes to pretend play a lot. She cooks, cleans, and even does homework.

Another up is that she and I attend a local moms of preschoolers group. This group helps me stay sane. They offer me great advice and are a great group of ladies who are there if I need them. I actually had one invite us over for a play date and she gave me some tips on potty training. We love the group.

One last down would be my daughter's attitude. She likes to give up and is mean as ever. I have no idea how to discipline but I do know I do not want to spank her. Not even over her diaper. My husband however has a different idea and thinks spanking might help. She will back talk me and has learned a new one, she says, "I don't like you get away from me." I am trying my hardest but am at a loss as to what to do with her. I have some reading material on the way and hope it will help out.

I will be letting you into a day in my life sometime this week. I will include pictures and show you how we live day to day. It will be fun to share. Thanks for reading and if you have any advice please do share, thanks!

  1. Awww don't worry because I have the same problem like you. Madison is giving me a hard time potty training. She has taken the longest for all of my kids. She'll be 3 in just a few days and she still refuses to go in the potty. I've tried everything and I'm at the stage where I give up. I know she'll go when she's ready but I'm ready. :)
