The Turquoise Tower By Travis Simmons Book Tour/Giveaway

The Turquoise Tower (The Revenant Wyrd Saga #6)
The captivating sequel to A Guardian of Shadows.

In the mystical lands of the Great Realms, Angelica, Jovian, and Joya search for their kidnapped sister, Amber. Their quest has led them through many dangers and revelations, but nothing has prepared them for what’s about to come.

A dream reveals what Angelica and Jovian are, but what does it mean for their future? There’s little time to dwell on this, for the chaos dwarves, the scourge of the Realm of Earth, are gathering at the gates of the Guardian’s Keep. The dwarves have the stone Wyrders’ Bane, and they’ve shown they know how to unleash its plague upon all those who wield the magical force of wyrd. With casters neutralized, a mighty blow has been dealt to the allied forces. The dwarves and trolls attack the keep, and the struggle to survive the war in the north is upon them.

Angelica, Jovian, and Joya’s journey is far from easy, but the future looks even bleaker when visions of a gathering darkness in the west and a congregation of angels could mark the beginning of the final war on the Ever After.

My Review:

This is the last book in the series and I was happy to see what happened to the characters but also sad because as I said this is the last book. I have enjoyed watching how these characters played out and what happened to them along the way. I have a huge imagination and this series has really fed into it. I was glad this last book answered any questions I had from the rest of the series. I was not left wondering or wanting to know more. Travis Simmons pulled the series together well and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

About the Author
Travis has been writing since he was 14.  He began writing a book called "The Calling of the Two" and while writing that on and off he started uncovering another idea.

"Yes, this is all well and good, but what about before? What happened in the world before these characters came into it?" He always knew there was a "before" and as he started wondering about it he got ideas. At first they were little ideas but as he discovered the names for his characters a whole story about them emerged.
Travis started working on The Revenant Wyrd Saga several years back and he is very happy he did because hearing and documenting Jovian and Angelica's story has been one wild ride for him.  He has also written the Infernal Design series.

He lives in a small town at the base of the Adirondack Mountains and hoofing around my neck of the woods gives him a ton of inspiration for his novels.   He loves research, and speculating on different ideas and theories.

Schwan's Home Service Review

* I was provided complimentary product in order to facilitate my review. These are my opinions and experiences and yours may differ.*

I could not be happier with the service that I have received from Schwan's company. I remember as a child that my mom would order push ups and egg rolls from the company. All of us loved them and to find out my own small family loves them too. I am so glad to see that the company has the same great quality food that they did over ten years ago! How awesome is that?

I have placed two orders with them and am loving everything I ordered. I also really like my driver. He is very helpful and not pushy at all. I was quite surprised by that because most of the time the drivers just push you to order more and more. He is very understanding and even helps me decide when I am unsure.

Some of the things that I really like about Schwan's are:

  • They offer over 350 High-quality affordable food choices
  • USDA Choice Meats
  • Grade A Vegetables
  • Wild-Caught Fish and Seafood
  • Delivered right to your door for your convenience

Seaside Dreams Book Tour/Giveaway

The newest addition to the LOVE IN BLOOM series, featuring a group of fun, sexy, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They’re funny, flawed, and will have you begging to enter their circle of friends. You met them in READ, WRITE, LOVE, (The Remingtons, Book 5), follow these friends on their search for forever love in the Seaside Summers series.

Bella Abbascia has returned to Seaside Cottages in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, as she does every summer. Only this year, Bella has more on her mind than sunbathing and skinny-dipping with her girlfriends. She’s quit her job, put her house on the market, and sworn off relationships while she builds a new life in her favorite place on earth. That is, until good-time Bella’s prank takes a bad turn and a sinfully sexy police officer appears on the scene.

Single father and police officer Caden Grant left Boston with his fourteen-year-old son, Evan, after his partner was killed in the line of duty. He hopes to find a safer life in the small resort town of Wellfleet, and when he meets Bella during a night patrol shift, he realizes he’s found the one thing he’d never allowed himself to hope for—or even realized he was missing.

After fourteen years of focusing solely on his son, Caden cannot resist the intense attraction he feels toward beautiful Bella, and Bella’s powerless to fight the heat of their budding romance. But starting over proves more difficult than either of them imagined, and when Evan gets mixed up with the wrong kids, Caden’s loyalty is put to the test. Will he give up everything to protect his son—even Bella?

SEASIDE SUMMERS are the newest addition to the LOVE IN BLOOM series
**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

My Review:
I have not been able to get into a good romance novel in a long time. I am so happy I got to read this one and gave it a chance. I really enjoyed it! I was able to daydream about meeting someone the way Bella does in the book. I love putting myself in the shoes of characters especially in hot romance books (who doesn't want a perfect Summer love?). The book is very well written and I am looking forward to the next one! It is always good for me to escape in a book like this. A romance on the beach is always fun.

The Perfect Summer Movie Review

* I was provided a complimentary copy of the movie to facilitate my review. These are my opinions and experiences and yours may differ.*

(Taken from movie website) In The Perfect Summer, fatherless teenager Jake (Adam Horner) is happy living in Chicago, until his mother (Sydney Penny) decides to uproot them to a small surfing town where her estranged father (Eric Roberts), Jake's grandfather, lives. The transition isn't easy for anyone and it seems everywhere he goes, Jake manages to make enemies, including the town bully, Tyler (JD Banks), who doesn't like the new interloper or his interest in young surfing prodigy, Kayla (Katie Garfield). Stuck in the beach town with no friends and no knowledge of surfing, Jake has nowhere to turn until Cody (Jason Castro), the local surf shop owner, reveals that Jake's grandfather is a surf legend. Tired of feeling like an outcast, Jake asks Lou to teach him about surfing. Jake learns to face his fears, push through inhibitions and realizes that winning the respect of his new peers - and Katie's heart - might mean facing the biggest challenge of his life.

This movie was great! I know how the main character felt because I had been uprooted as a kid and moved around a lot. I did not lose my dad or mom but know what going to a new place is all about. I felt bad for Jake because Tyler and the other bully would not leave him alone. The movie does have a good ending thankfully. It was very enjoyable and took me on an emotional ride. There are good and sad parts like many other dramas. All together it was an excellent movie and I will watch again! You can learn more about it here: Perfect Summer Movie online.

Hero Movie Review

* I was provided a complimentary copy of the movie to facilitate my review. These are my opinions and experiences and yours may differ.*

From producers of Alone Yet Not Alone, comes a heartfelt movie about legendary small town baseball coach, Joe Finn (Burgess Jenkins, Remember the Titans, Nashville, The Shunning), who after taking his shot as a scout for the big leagues returns home to discover the damage he's done by leaving his family behind.   Now on a quest to rebuild his relationship with his son David, Joe forms a new baseball league to reinvigorate the underdog little league team his son had been coaching.  Together, as father and son, they try to put away their differences and help bring their ragtag team of ball players, “The Gappers”, to victory.

My Review:
I loved this movie! It shows how important bonds between children and parents are. AS you watch it you will think about your bond with your parent of lack thereof. I know I sure did. The producers and film makers did a great job of putting this together. It is very entertaining and heart warming. A serious must see for dads and sons out there.

Please go check out the trailer and learn more about the movie here: HERO movie site.
Just so you know it does come out to DVD tomorrow!!

Good Night Little Pumpkin Book Review/Giveaway

*Disclosure: I am a Tommy Nelson Mommy and was provided complimentary books to facilitate my review. These are my experiences and opinions yours may differ.*

Fall is my favorite season and it is in full swing here in Colorado. I can not wait for pumpkin and Fall festivals to start. In the book Good Night Little Pumpkin a little boy named and his family get to attend a Fall festival which is filled with games and fun to be had. It is late but Milo is not ready to go home he wants to have more fun. Milo is in his pumpkin costume and even wins the costume contest! He is having so much fun he just does not want to go home to go to bed. Towards the end of the night the family goes to the hay bale maze and the little pumpkin has passed out.

This is a fun and cute little board book. It is even shaped a little like a pumpkin. Most little kids can relate to Milo in the book. I know when Christine finds something she is having fun doing she does not want to stop even if she is sleepy. If you want to read more about the book you can go to: Good Night Little Pumpkin online. You can also enter to win below. Good luck!!

God is Always Good Book Reivew/Giveaway

*Disclosure: I am a Tommy Nelson Mommy and was provided complimentary books to facilitate my review. These are my experiences and opinions yours may differ.*

God is Always good is written by Tama Fortner and illustrated by Veronica Vasylenko. It is written to comfort kids who are facing grief, worry, or scary times. It has great illustrations to go with the message that God is always good. We recently had to switch apartments and it has been really hard to get Christine (who is 2 and a half) to understand what was going on. I had to teach her about change and that we now have a new home and she can not just walk into out old home. It ha been a week and she is now more understanding of what has happened.

This book has been a great tool even before we moved. It teaches kids that things in the world change but God never does. That is one the greatest things you can teach your children. God will be there through everything they are going through. Each page even has a bible verse to reference the topic on the page. This is one of my favorite books! If you would like to learn more about it or purchase it please visit: God is Always Good online. You can also enter below to win your own copy of the book. Good luck!

Little Critter Books Review/Giveaway

*Disclosure: I am a Tommy Nelson Mommy and was provided complimentary books to facilitate my review. These are my experiences and opinions yours may differ.*

I am so happy to be able to share Little Critter books with my daughter. They are some of my favorite books and they always have a good lesson in them. The first book I will tell you about is We All Need Forgiveness. In this book Little Critter learns that if we do not forgive we will be unhappy. His mom tells him he needs to forgive people and he will be happy. As he goes through his day he learns that his mom is right. When he does not forgive people he feels bad. He learns his lesson as things happen like his sister almost washing out his sandcastle.
Forgiveness is important and this is something that even I as an adult struggle with. This book is great for kids to learn more about forgiving. You can look at it and purchase here: We All Need Forgiveness.

The second book is Being Thankful. Little Critter is always wanting something that he thinks is better than what he already has. He wants the new scooter, he wants to watch a better movie, he just thinks that what he has is not good. He learns that what he has is good and he needs to be happy that he even ha that. Little Critter gets thankful rocks to remind him to be thankful of what he has.
This book is a great tool to teach kids to like what they have and be thankful. If you would like to purchase or learn more about it please go to: Being Thankful.

You can enter below to win a copy of both books! Only one winner will win two books. Good luck!!

Gluten-Free Breakfast Ideas

*Disclosure: I was provided complimentary samples in order to facilitate my review. These are my opinions and experiences and yours may differ.*

Most kids are back to school and that means moms are scrambling to get them fed. Canyon Bake House is here to help get gluten-free meals on the table to give your kids (and yourself) much needed nourishment.
I was sent a variety or breads to try out.

The first thing I tried were the cranberry crunch muffins. I had one for breakfast and shared with my daughter. I was surprised that she actually liked them. Usually she does not eat gluten-free muffins because most of the time they are too dry. These were not dry and were very flavorful. You can make it a complete breakfast with a hard boiled egg.  We both liked them a lot!

We also loved the raisin bread! Raisin bread is one of my favorites but it is even better if it is gluten-free. This bread had a lot of raisins and was so soft and yummy. I ate it with some cream cheese and coffee but it was also good with almond and peanut butters. It would also make a great after school snack for the kids.

I was also sent some 7-grain sandwich bread and some mountain white bread. These are both excellent to use in kids lunches or your own at home. The mountain white with some avocado and cheese would be a healthy yummy breakfast and it gives you the good fats you need. The 7-grain would make a great toast and if you add some meat like turkey it can be a filling breakfast.

I absolutely love Canyon Bake House breads and love the fact that they are a local company to me. If you would like to learn more about them and where to purchase their products please visit: Canyon Bake House online. You can find more recipes and ideas there as well!
