A Long Way Off Movie Review

*Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this movie to facilitate my review. These are my opinions and experiences and yours may differ.*

About the movie:
Retelling the timeless parable of a father’s unconditional love, tempestuous young Jake tries to escape the duties of the family business by leaving his home and taking his dreams to the big city. Far from the wise words of his father, Abraham, Jake is finally free to live the high life that he’s always wanted, trading the traditional values of his upbringing to revel in every temptation that money can buy. Just when Jake thinks the world is his playground and every day offers another enticing opportunity, he must come face to face with the consequences of the life he’s chosen. Jake must learn that sometimes it takes losing everything to realize/appreciate what he left behind, and if his mistakes can ever outweigh the grace of a father’s forgiveness.

My Reivew:
I really enjoyed the modern spin on the prodigal son. It was entertaining yet real at the same time. It is a must see for everyone. I like that it was a fun movie as well. It keeps you watching because you want to see what happens to the whole family. Take a look at the trailer below.

About the film:

Can the Holy Spirit Direct a Movie?

In this fast-paced documentary from the director of the popular films Finger of GodFurious Love, and Father of Lights, Darren Wilson sets out to make a movie that is completely led by the Holy Spirit. No plan, no script, no safety net — just go wherever he feels the Spirit leading him to try and discover the adventure God has for him. Whether it’s the riches of Monte Carlo, a heavy metal concert, or the oldest city in world, the result is a film that not only challenges and excites, but also reveals a God who is far more alive and active than you ever imagined.

The movie features big names such as Lenny Kravitz, Brain “Head” Welch, Bill Johnson, Michael W. Smith, Todd White, Meredith Andrews, DeVon Franklin, William P. Young, Phil Vischer, and many more!

My Review:

This was one of the best documentaries I have seen. I really loved seeing how many people have been brought to Christ and where they have come from. I used to love the band Korn so seeing Head on hear made me cry. It is great what the Holy Ghost can do and that the Holy Spirit really ran this movie. It is a must see for everyone no matter what religion, denomination, or beliefs you have. The Holy Spirit can even bring atheists to God. How awesome is that??

This movie will have a worldwide premiere on September 6. All you have to do is visit: HolyGhostMovie.com. You can also enter my giveaway below and get a copy before anyone else sees it! Good luck! (Giveaway is short to help get your movie before September 6.)

Post Great Grains Asks, “What Makes You Great?”

*Disclosure: I was sent samples in compensation for my post. These are my opinions and experiences and yours may differ.*

This year, Post Great Grains cereal asked women to share what makes them great and the results were amazing. Initially when asked,  the majority of women were shocked by the question and had to think for a bit about what truly made them great. Each woman is great in her own way and it is important to remember this and celebrate it every day.

I had to think for a while to be able to answer this question. My answer would be that I am a great mom and great wife and that makes me great! It is hard for me to compliment myself and I am sure others have the same issue.

Some of the survey results include:

  • Eighty percent of women love themselves more than they did 10 years ago!
  • Most women over the age of 40 feel they’ve improved themselves in the last 10 years. The top thing they say has gotten better with age? 54 percent of women say it’s their confidence.
  • Women know that the first step to empowerment is being your own best friend. 83% of women think the greatest obstacle to reaching their full potential is what they think of themselves, rather than what others think of them.

Now I would like for you to tell me What makes you great??

On Wings of Chaos (The Revenant Wyrd Saga Book 5) Review/$10 Amazon giveaway

On Wings of Chaos (The Revenant Wyrd Saga #5)

The captivating sequel to A Guardian of Shadows.

In the mystical lands of the Great Realms, Angelica, Jovian, and Joya search for their kidnapped sister, Amber. Their quest has led them through many dangers and revelations, but nothing has prepared them for what’s about to come.

A dream reveals what Angelica and Jovian are, but what does it mean for their future? There’s little time to dwell on this, for the chaos dwarves, the scourge of the Realm of Earth, are gathering at the gates of the Guardian’s Keep. The dwarves have the stone Wyrders’ Bane, and they’ve shown they know how to unleash its plague upon all those who wield the magical force of wyrd. With casters neutralized, a mighty blow has been dealt to the allied forces. The dwarves and trolls attack the keep, and the struggle to survive the war in the north is upon them.

Angelica, Jovian, and Joya’s journey is far from easy, but the future looks even bleaker when visions of a gathering darkness in the west and a congregation of angels could mark the beginning of the final war on the Ever After.

My Review:

I will admit that it takes a lot to keep me interested in a series. Travis Simmons does a great job of keeping me hooked to his Revenant Wyrd series. I really am able to just get lost in another world. The series is one that really should be read in order or you may be a little confused with what is going on. Once you get into it you will be hooked. This book was not different in that aspect. I was hooked from the beginning and love how Simmons was able to tie in some past stuff with what was going on in the here and now. I was left wondering about one character and can not wait for the next book!!

About the Author
Travis has been writing since he was 14.  He began writing a book called "The Calling of the Two" and while writing that on and off he started uncovering another idea.

"Yes, this is all well and good, but what about before? What happened in the world before these characters came into it?" He always knew there was a "before" and as he started wondering about it he got ideas. At first they were little ideas but as he discovered the names for his characters a whole story about them emerged.
Travis started working on The Revenant Wyrd Saga several years back and he is very happy he did because hearing and documenting Jovian and Angelica's story has been one wild ride for him.  He has also written the Infernal Design series.

He lives in a small town at the base of the Adirondack Mountains and hoofing around my neck of the woods gives him a ton of inspiration for his novels.   He loves research, and speculating on different ideas and theories.

A Night Night Prayer Book Review/giveaway

*Disclosure: I am a Tommy Nelson Mommy and was provided complimentary books to facilitate my review. These are my experiences and opinions yours may differ.*

The cover of this book attracted me. I know you should never judge a book by its cover but this one is so cute that it drew me in. I am always looking for books to read to my little girl before bed. This one is perfect. The little Alpaca goes through his bedtime routine which includes telling his puppy, kitty, mommy, and even God good night. There are awesome illustrations to add to the book as well. It is a good routine to start with your child to get them to go to sleep at night. You can learn more about the book here: A Night Night Prayer. You can also enter to win a copy below. Good luck!!

The Lord's Prayer Kids Book review/giveaway

*Disclosure: I am a Tommy Nelson Mommy and was provided complimentary books to facilitate my review. These are my experiences and opinions yours may differ.*

I bet people wonder why I never have pics of my little one reading the books. Well she does love to read with me but she does not sit still long enough to get a picture haha. This is another little board book and I love it. It has the Lord's prayer and uses scenes from daily life to show your child the meaning of it. The book makes it fun and understandable for little ones. It has colorful vibrant pictures too. To me the best part is that there are only a few sentences on each page so Christine would sit through it. I definitely recommend it to anyone teaching their child more about Jesus and praying. You can learn more about it here: The Lord's Prayer. You can also enter to win a copy below. Good luck!!

Charlie, his local librarian, seems the prefect choice.

When Charlie accepts, Davis's plan is set. But now Charlie's sweet ways are challenging his bachelor heart.
